Those who… Trentodoc!

Trentodoc: Bubbles in the City is now 11 year old. Before Christmas, 43 sparkling wine producers presented their traditional method Trentino bubbly in Trento. The event was spread out between Palazzo Roccabruna, the headquarters of the Enoteca Provinciale, Muse, the museum of sciences and the mountains designed by Renzo piano, producer estates and various wine bars and shopss in the city.

Since last year, Trentodoc has had its own identity card which objectively certifies the wine’s connection with the area it is made in, the result of a research project carried out by the Fondazione Mach di San Michele all’Adige with Mipaaf and the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. Chardonnay, together with Pinot Noir, Pinot Bianco and Pinot Meunier are cultivated at high altitudes and are used to make a wine that ages for at least 15 months on the lees and as much as 10 years for the more evolved Riserve bubblies.
Over the past three years, Trentodoc has seen constant growth with 8.5 million bottles produced in 2014, with a 13% increase for the Riserve and Vintage wines and a 20% jump in exports to Europe and the rest of the world. “These numbers confirm the correctness of our direction, attention to quality and the value of a unique and extraordinarily suitable territory – Istituto Trento Doc President Enrico Zanoni said, adding –“Ample room for growth exists both in regard to notoriety and the distribution of our products which will certainly create further development scenarios”.
