As could be expected the use of new wood added an intensity to the color of this type of wine. At the same time, the tonality of the color perfectly reflects the territory and the grape: an intense ruby-garnet with just a slight edge. The bouquet is of violet, peppermint and a touch of gingerbread. The first flavor impact is that of fruit before the great tannins that distinguish 2006 take over. The finish is profound, taut from the tannins, while a lively acidity sits below the surface. It needs a few more years to come of age, after which it will be good for decades. The wood is hardly noticeable and here, as with the other three vintages, the structural characteristics are quite remarkable.
