Montiano Falesco in verticale (2)

Today we present a vertical of 13 vintages of Montiano Falesco including the great 1998, 2001, 2010, 2013 and 2015.

After looking yesterday at the history of Montiano, today we will focus on the wine itself, 13 vintages starting with 1996 and ending with 2015. The tastings were all done at the same time using bottles from my own cellar.

Montiano is a Lazio IGT made from Merlot grapes grown in vineyards close to Lake Bolsena and near Montefiascone. The wine matures in new French-oak barriques for around a year (the duration depending on the quality of the harvest).

The latest vintage available in Italy retails for 35-40 euros.
