Lanson and the Clos exception
Maison Lanson has proudly experienced a rebirth in recent years that is providing Champagne lovers with some small, great gems. Despite the difficult task of rebuilding its vineyards holdings, Lanson has also expanded its production line with some very interesting products including Extra Age, a cuvée targeted for consumption with haut cuisine.
Thanks to Jean Paul Gandon – Lanson’s chef de caves for over 40 years who only a couple of years ago passed the job over to Hervé Dantan – the Maison has not only preserved the excellence of its top Noble Cuvée line but has added a new jewel to its crown. Its name is Clos Lanson and refers to a ‘secret’ vineyard of just over a hectare which is surrounded by a high wall. Its history does back to the 18
