Freccianera Rosa, a St. Valentine’s Day bubbly from Fratelli Berlucchi

An incisive and austere Franciacorta Rosé, a vintage bubbly that Fratelli Berlucchi offers for a passionate and certainly not sugary St Valentine’s Day: Freccianera Rosé 2013.
The world of bubbly rosé is inevitably associated with femininity due to the wine’s color and especially on occasions like St Valentine’s Day. And yet when the Fratelli Berlucchi estate presented their Franciacorta Rosa rosé bubbly they underscored its almost “masculine” traits that stand out in the wine’s structure ad are created by the Pinot Nero in the blend, part of which was fermented on the skins to extract the color and give the wine its delicate tannic touch.
The philosophy behind the Freccianera (Black arrow) line can be summed up in the intention of Fratelli Berlucchi to produce a Franciacorta that enhances the value of their almost 70 hectares of vineyards, which the family has owned for generations, and the different wines they produce. Production is based on solid foundations and has been under the supervision of enologist Cesare Ferrari for the past 30 years. Very low vineyard yield, soft pressing and long maceration on the lees which have been the distinctive key for the vintage Collection Freccianera line.
Freccianera Rosa is an incisive rosé with personal and recognizable traits and its tension and austerity, together with a fairly full texture, all create a matrix that gives its best at the table but is also good as an aperitif.
