A blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Sangiovese and Petit Verdot that ages 10-12 months in French oak barriques of which 25-30% are new wood. After aging in wood, the wine then ages further in stainless steel vats to stabilize it before bottling.
The wine has a red, ruby color and the aroma opens with smoky and slightly spicy notes which are then pushed aside by those of sour cherry, currant and blackberry. The mouthfeel is warm and fruity with distinct, polished tannins and the finish is almost chewy.
