Extra Age Brut is a multi-vintage blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay selected from only three vintages that the Maison considered to be exceptional – 2004, 2005 and 2006 – and that was disgorged in June 2016 with a brut dosage of 8g/l. The wines were made in stainless steel without malolactic fermentation in order to preserve their great freshness and foster the innate propensity to age that the grapes from the exceptional terroirs have. The grapes, in fact, come from only Grands and Premier Cru vineyards with the Chardonnay from the villages of Chouilly, Avize, Cramant, Le Mesnil sur Oger and Vertus, while the Pinot Noir came from Verzenay and Bouzy.
An intense and aromatically full Champagne that has a surprising bouquet in the glass because of how defined the aromas are: notes of ripe citrus, yellow flowers, white tea, peach, ginger, currant, raspberry, freshly toasted dried fruit and hazelnut shortcrust pastry. The mouthfeel is clear yet full and winey with a balanced freshness and a spicy and complex depth and a nice saline note in the aftertaste.
