The color is a deep, purple-ruby and the pleasing aroma has strong black cherry and balsamic notes, a touch of toasted almond and a mineral hint. The attack of the mouthfeel is broad and rich with a velvety and saline progression and splendid padded tannins. This was tasted along with an Amarone Mazzano of the same vintage but one made with grapes that were not subject to noble rot and the differences were notable with the latter wine having a more almond/herbal aroma and a more austere mouthfeel, above all due to the tannins.
