Mandrarossa Menfi Guerra di Mare

Grillo and nero d'Avola are the most famous Sicilian grapes, however it should not be neglected some international grapes which can give excellent results in the island, such as this sauvignon.

We have selected three wines from Western Sicily that will satisfy both taste and wallet. They are Sicilia Grillo Vìviri 2019 from Tenuta Rapitalà in Camporeale, in the province of Palermo; Sicilia Urra di Mare 2019 Mandrarossa (Cantine Settesoli) in Menfi; and Sicilia Nero d'Avola 2018 Morgante in Contrada Racalmare in Grotte, the latter two wineries in the province of Agrigento.

Once exclusively owned by Counts de la Gatinais, Tenuta Rapitalà since about fifteen years has become part of the constellation of Gruppo Italiano Vini. It has vineyards in the Alcamese area, in the north-western part of Sicily, and offers a wide range of labels, based on local varieties as well as international ones.

Cantine Settesoli is one of the most important cooperatives of Southern Italy and Mandrarossa is its prestigious brand. One million bottles out of twenty million produced in total: the emblem of a possible relationship between large numbers and quality, connection with the territory and prices accessible to consumers. The winery is located in Menfi but since this year it also produces wines on Etna, thanks to a joint venture with Scilio, and an excellent Passito di Pantelleria.

Few wineries are characterized as the one of Morgante family in the production of nero d'Avola. Here the flagship grape of Sicily finds some of the deepest and most significant expressions. Various declinations which in the course of time have taken on more and more linearity and personality. We are in the hills of Agrigento, south of Sicily. Sunny, Mediterranean, powerful and never predictable wines.
