Vigor and pleasure
Bonfiglio Carra is young, as is his wine estate founded in 1992. From the beginning his approach has been clear, bring together basic concepts and develop them with great consistency: respect for nature, quality, low yield and constant research to ensure technical advances obtain the best results.
The countryside around the Carra di Casatico estate is straight out of a fairy tale. It is set in the rolling Parma Hills with an excellent view of the Torrechiara Castle that dominates over the valley, a building of unique beauty that will take your breath away. The vineyards are cultivated with maniacal care with any intervention only what is exclusively necessary to ensure the grapes are blessed. The winery was recently restructured in full respect of the environment.
The whole range of the estate’s wines is of utmost quality and is limited, since craft winemaking does not strive for quantity. The vineyards also host some international or ‘noble’ varieties, above all Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, for the sparkling wines, along with Sauvignon and Merlot. The estate is famous locally for a wine only it produces, a blend of Malvasia di Candia Aromatica and Moscato Petit Grain, a delight that unfortunately is only produced in ‘confidential’ quantities.
