Off to the beach with Brezza Lungarotti
Brezza Umbria Bianco IGT from Lungarotti is a fresh and fragrant, vivacious and easy to drink wine to kick off the summer ahead of time.
With the first hot days of spring comes the desire to head to the sea and here is a wine that is perfect for a lunch at the beach, with those cold, typically summer dishes like stuffed tomatoes, rice salad and light fried specials. It is also ideal from the galley, for those lucky enough to have a boat. The nautical aspect is underscored by the compass rose on the label taken from an ancient portolan chart. It is somewhat odd that this wine comes from an historic winery like Lungarotti in Torgiano, considering it is in the landlocked region of Umbria and thus has no sea.
We tasted this wine during an important meal at the recently reopened Le Melograne restaurant of the Le Tre Vaselle resort. They have a new chef who is young and clearly talented and we finished the bottle quickly given that it paired perfectly with a cream of pea risotto, purple broccoli rabe tips and lemon peel confit.
