Welcome back Fieramonte Allegrini

After 27 years, from the last vintage produced 1985 to 2011, Fieramonte Amarone Classico Riserva DOCG from Allegrini is back, even if only 5,000 bottles were produced.

The Allegrini estate needs little introduction, being a leading producer in Valpolicella. Fieramonte was a cru that represented the feather in the estate’s cap but its production was unfortunately interrupted in 1985 when the vineyard of the same name had to be torn up.

The vineyard’s six hectares, which overlook the Fumane Valley and sit above Villa della Torre, were replanted in 2001 with high density, double guyot-trained vines and a modified combination of varietals from the classic one with more Corvina and Corvinone, which together represent 90% of the blend. After ten years, it was decided to make the historic reserve wine again starting with the 2011 harvest.

“The grapes from the Fieramonte vineyard have a particular intensity thanks to the morning sun they receive having an eastern exposure. This produces a wine that brings together boldness and great structure, which give it an excellent lifespan as well as great elegance,” Marisa Allegrini explained.
