The peasant highwayman
Mario Notaroberto is a restauranteur, chef, entrepreneur and importer and distributor of food and wine in Luxembourg, where he has lived for 30 years successfully managing his restaurants. He is also a winemaker in Cilento, the area of Campania south of Salerno. Mario loves to call himself the peasant highwayman because of his full beard that almost completely covers his face and highlights his eyes which reveal his deep love of his homeland.
In 1990, he began the Fattoria Albamarina project that started with the acquisition of land and continued with experiments with vines, coordinated at the time by Professor Attilio Scienza. The aim was to create a genotype typical of Cilento that was planted in Centola, near Palinuro, where the first vineyards of Fiano were born.
Of the estate’s 25 hectares, ten are vineyards of Fiano and Aglianico while rest are olive groves, fruit orchards, gardens and a didactic farm, all conceived according to eco-sustainability guidelines and without any use of chemical substances.
Today Albamarina is an important reality be it for the avant-garde nature of the project, the methodology used and its wines, which have something special about them. Like Mario.
