In honor of god Baal

Baal is the name attributed to one of the principle divinities of ancient Ugarit and in the Akkadian language means the lord, owner and protector of a place. The Salerno family chose this as name for their estate in honor of Annabile, the head of the family and founder of the winery.
Casa di Baal is in Montecorvino Rovella, in the province of Salerno, at the top of a hill with a view over the Amalfi Coast. Since 2006, they have been cultivating grapes and olives in their 30 hectares of land, five of which are vineyards, under the agricultural and enological supervision of Gennaro Reale.
Although they grow a number of grape varieties, the primary focus is on Fiano and Aglianico. The vineyards have a low density and a limited yield and are in the process of being converted from organic to biodynamic farming. The estate produces five wines: two reds, two whites and a sparkling wine made from Fiano for a total annual production of 25,000.
