Il Casolare diVino and the authentic taste of Pallagrello Nero
An historic varietal, now almost limited to the hills of Caiatine, and a small estate that has made it its mission. The result: Pallagrello Nero from Il Casolare diVino.
In 2008, siblings Raffaele and Bonaventura Tralice created Il Casolare diVino, a wine estate amid the green hills of Alto Casertano which immediately stood out for cultivating only Pallagrello Nero grapes.
The farmhouse, which was once a restaurant, is surrounded by three hectares planted with this local varietal that has a double identity – one red and one white – and was much loved by the Bourbon King of Naples Ferdinand IV, who reserved an area for it in his historic Vigna del Ventaglio vineyard. After years of fame, its cultivation today is limited to a particular area in the Caiatine Hills.
Pallagrello Nero is a vigorous variety with small and round grapes that tolerates drought well and draws its structure from earth. It produces an authentic wine with a lovely and intense aromatic profile and a good potential to age.
