Dionisio and Lia, I Pentri and Pietra della Volpe
The combination of Aglianico and the area of Guardia Sanframoni, in the province of Benevento, produces a warm, meaty and incredibly fresh red wine: Pietra della Volpe 2012 I Pentri.
At the beginning of the road up to Guardia Sanframondi, a town known for its wine and olive oil, there is a sign for the small and lovely I Pentri estate. Dionisio and Lia are its owners and founders and they welcome you with a hospitality that few can match. Their passion and determination is contagious as they tell you about the history of the wine project which was based on the knowledge and experience they acquired after long years in the vineyard. They have spent their years here respecting and loving nature, preserving the history of the area and protecting its ampelographic heritage.
Their ten hectares of vineyards are spread out over the hills of Monte Taburno and the southeast area of Matese in plots of around a hectare each which resemble - for the beauty, size and shape – small terraces. The vines are of Piedirosso, Aglianico, Falanghina, Fiano and Malvasia and they use no fertilizer or herbicide in the vineyard. Using these five varieties they produce eight, organic wines and their enologist is Angelo Valentino.
