Cappellaccio Riserva 2008 Rivera

This 10-year old 100% Aglianico Castel del Monte still has a discreet freshness and its age is only denoted the aromas from bottle aging.
The Rivera estate is owned by the De Corato family who have written important pages in the history of winemaking in Puglia and contributed to making famous the winemaking district around the wonderful Castel del Monte castle. It is situated in a relatively small area of the Murge plateau where the vineyards are on the hillsides, with red wine grapes grown on the lower sections and white ones planted at a higher altitude to benefit from diurnal temperature variations that enhance the grapes’ aromas.
This is a hard and rocky yet rich and bold landscape that gives the wine the freshness it needs to age long, in some cases very long. Evidence of this are the old bottles of Il Falcone.
The Rivera estate has over 100 hectares of vineyards that produce some 1.2 million bottles a year.
