Austere without excess

Camilla Rossi Chauvenet runs an all-female estate and has breathed new life into the family estate with a courageous and detailed project. Aside from wine, this estate in the eastern part of Valpolicella also cultivates olives and has become a resort offering very lovely apartments.
The estate has a total of 30 hectares all in one block, something rare for the area. The pitch of the land descends from 450m above sea level to 250m and there are three different soil compositions which allows them to cultivate a variety of grapes that can produce different wines. There are around 12 hectares of vineyards and the vines are both pergola Veronese and Guyot-trained. Production is certified organic as is the winery which has a low architectural impact in the framework of a project for total sustainability.
The varieties cultivated are Covina, Corvinone and Rondinella as well as some Garganega for the production of an IGT white wine. Their Amarone 2012 is well-made with an emphasis in the fruit but in an austere way to avoid excessive sweetness.
