A tribute from Triacca to Giovanni Segantini

A Valtellina Superiore the Triacca estate has dedicated to painter Giovanni Segantini – who frequented the valley – and his painting Noon over the Alps, which is reproduced on the label.
The connection between artists and wine is as old as it is true even, or perhaps above all, among the great artists. One of the many examples is Giovanni Segantini, a master of the late 19th century Divisionist style, who depicted the Engadin Alps, in the Swiss canton of Graubünden, in many of his works.
Segantini was also a frequent visitor to the Valtellina winemaking region that is separated from the Engadin Valley by the Val Poschiavo. His painting Noon over the Alps, a magnificent 1891 work now in the Segatini Museum in St. Moritz, is reproduced on the label of this Valtellina Superiore from Triacca.
This family-run estate is one of the reasons for the success of Valtellina red wines and Triacca is also probably the estate that has done the most to penetrate the Swiss market for the valley’s wines. The estate’s broad line of production ranges from whites to sparkling wines and this “Giovanni Segantini” is a peak among its reds, like those of the mountains in his painting on the label.
