A textbook varietal expression

Red wines from the Marche region have been struggling, crushed between the increasing quality of Verdicchio from Jesi and Matelica, the popularity of Pecorino and the commercial success of Passerina. The reds that have succeeded in staking their ground are Piceno, which is always good, and the super aromatic Lacrima di Morro d’Alba, with its strong and unique personality.
Among the reds that have not found the success they deserve are those from the semi-mountainous area of Serrapetrona, in the province of Macerata below the Apennine mountain chain near the border with the region of Umbria.
The Podere sul Lago estate has vineyards with a southern exposure that sit at an altitude of 500m above sea level and have a soil rich in lime, as well as a breathtaking view over Lake Caccamo. Here they produce Torcular, a ready to drink Serrapetrona.
