A masterpiece of high craftsmanship

“We are parched hearts/ enemies of peace/ when two hearts embrace/ we all despair’ so reads the introductory notes to Anime Salve, a 20th century Italian musical masterpiece by Fabrizio De Andrè.
It is from an ancient proverb from the region of Campania and Perillo Taurasi is also something proverbial from Campania, something 19th century and rural. It is a wine that stands out, like all the best Aglianico wines, for how ‘wicked’ it is, how it just won’t leave you alone. Craftsmanship reigns both in the vineyard and the winery, both situated in an area that experts agree is one of the best in all Irpinia.
