Had I not tasted the Riserva 2006 only a few weeks before, I would have given a higher rating to this masterpiece of high craftsmanship. The wine has a dark, ruby color and a stratified bouquet with scents of bitter chocolate, ash, black cherry and leather. The mouthfeel is bold and juicy despite being distinctly austere. The finish is that of a true star with stratified tannins spruced up by a harsh, pronounced salinity with shadowy tones in an excellent persistence. This wine has decades of life ahead of it and is worth more than it costs, some 30 euros.
