Vigna Pedale Riserva 2013

A dark, opaque ruby color with a purple edge and a decidedly floral aroma with distinct notes of violet together with nuances of licorice. The mouthfeel has an austerity that is impossible to confuse with the nature of Salento reds, while the tannins are flavorful and pleasingly sandy and the balsamic finish is very fruity (blackberry). This is a surprisingly dynamic red for area and it becomes flinty with breathing. A very good wine that needs to age more to bring out the land.
