A shocking wine beginning with its luminous yet dispersed red color, something unusual for a Pinot Noir making it clear this wine will “take no prisoners”. Although classic in expressing the grape, the bouquet is enriched with hematic and spice notes, almost like a Rhone wine, as well as those of pine needles and black cherry. And yet this is a Pinot Noir to the bone, the product of the ridiculously low yield and maniacal care of this formidable vineyard. The mouthfeel unites expressive force with unusual richness making it almost meaty, far from the fleeting and, at times, impalpable structure of Pinot Noir. And the tannins are not innocent either, almost Nebbiolo-like, raising the bar higher in regard to propensity to age. Its strength, boldness and elegance makes this a unique wine.
Produced in ‘confidential’ quantity.
