A deep, dark-ruby color with a slightly garnet edge and a spectacular aroma of sour cherry, soot and face powder with nuances of tropical fruit and a vegetal hint of horseradish. The mouthfeel has a bold concentration with distinct fruit and multilayered tannins, while the aftertaste is able to take off despite the heaviness of the mouthfeel. The Montepulciano from Piceno may have less umami than the best found in Abruzzo but it is hard to match a wine with this level of fruit and ability to please. This has decades ahead of it.
