Made from Montepulciano grapes. A minor masterpiece that highlights the qualities of a great but undervalued grape variety: Montepulciano. It has a very deep and concentrated ruby colour and a typically inviting and ethereal bouquet, with notes of sour cherries and cacao, as well as some underlying animal-like and smoky hints. The flavour is forthright, with the tannins subdued by the rounded fruit, and it has a long, persistent finish. Serve it at 20°C (68°F) with roast lamb or beef, or braised wild boar.
