Bolgheri is not Montalcino and here the 2009 and 2010 vintages were inverted in regard to value compared to central Tuscany. Thus while this is a good Sassicaia it is not the outstanding one you would have expected. The ruby color is bright and the aromas are a bit more mentholated than the previous vintage, the result of a harvest that was evidently cooler fostering pyrazine notes. The flavor is taut, agile and pleasing with a nice body and a good persistence in the aftertaste.
