This is an emblematic wine but also one of ineffable continuity. It is the forerunner of the ‘Bordeaux’ wines in Italy and is reputed to be one of the best wines in the world. In the glass this had a garnet-red color with ruby flashes, while the bouquet had balsamic notes of mint, blackberry, leather, purple violets, myrtle and juniper. The mouthfeel was soft, with silky tannins and a balanced structure and acidity. It was also penetrated with violet sensations that give the wine a beautiful elegance. The intense, aromatic persistence was long.
