This was one of the worst years for wine in the past 50 years and yet it miraculously produced an excellent Sassicaia. The wine has a garnet color with brick-red reflections and good concentration. The bouquet respectfully shows its age without evident signs of oxidation. The aromas are bottle-aged and complex with scents of dried fruit, mushroom and tar that still maintain a surprising intensity without becoming sherry-like. The mouthfeel is harmonious, the tannins have completely settled and allow for extremely elegant, velvety sensations. This was the first year the wine aged in 225-liter French barriques.
