The growing season was cool and above all wet which demanded endless work in the vineyards. “We decided to make wine even with some grapes that were nice and moldy, to allow the wine to explain the year,” Paolucci told us. The initial impact is almost that of an Alsace wine, with its note of yellow peach and exotic touch, the bouquet opens up with sensations of licorice, basil and a note of kerosene which is unexpected in a Verdicchio that is only four years old (but that was due to the harvest). The mouthfeel has an excellent punch but lacks a bit of contrast and this is one of the limits of the 2014 wine. Nevertheless, this is a fine wine and should evolve quickly.
