A garnet-orange color with violet reflections with an initial Burgundy-esque floral aroma followed by notes of slate, black pepper, dried blue flowers and orange peel. The mouthfeel is broad but not full with tannins that are similar to the 2015 while the center of the mouth is spicy and the finish is deep and slightly thin with notes of resin and iris. This is essentially a top-notch, old style wine and while it may seem at its peak, each great Dolceacqua acts differently in the bottle.
