A Champagne of great elegance, the greatness of which still has to be discovered in Italy. This is a blend of some 30% Pinot Noir from the Grand Cru villages of Verzenay and Bouzy on Montagne de Reims and some 70% Chardonnay from the villages of Avize and Cramant in Cote des Blancs. Here freshness and richness come together in a full and rewarding Champagne that sat on the lees for over nine years.
The delicacy of the aromatic profile is immediately striking with a finesse that, however, quickly reveals a profound complexity and a vibrant freshness. The bouquet has notes of pineapple, mango, pepper biscuits, linden honey and dried fruit, including a lovely nuance of fresh walnut. In the mouthfeel the acidity of the fruit jolts one’s taste buds with lovely energy, convincing and involving them in a dynamic progression that ends with a rich and relaxed finish. A wine well-worth the wait.
