A wine difficult to describe objectively because it is such a sensorial phenomenon. The few vintages I have had the privilege to taste (Vinogodi is lucky enough to be on the official distributor’s mailing list and also has connections with the Maison, ed.note) have always had a Stendhal-syndrome effect on me as well as those with whom I shared this pleasure. The wine never seems to age and always has a bold, yellow color with youthful green reflections. The deterrence of its bouquet is legendary if not mythical, with mineral and sulfurous notes capable of slaying your taste buds. The way it offers a complete range of aromas is cunning and sadistically tempts you to leave the wine in the glass for hours so you can experience all the nuances of fruit and spice. What is most surprising is how sharp and intense it is. The mouthfeel may leave you guessing because its concentration is not titanic, however, the elegance and balance will leave you with your mouth hanging open. An absolutely great wine.
The average rating for the vintages I have tasted run from a minimum of 99/100, as it the case with the above vintage, to a ‘normal’ one of 100/100.
This wine is impossible to find in wine shops be it because of the limited quantity produced, be it for the fact that it is ‘objectively’ considered to be the greatest white wine on the planet. A bottle costs no less than 5,000 euros and can runs as high 7,000 to 9,000 euros for extraordinary vintages like 2002 and 2005.
