The color is a deep, dark ruby with garnet reflections and the aroma opens immediately without any initial sensations of reduction, the classic rustic/elegant trademark of Valentini reds. The bouquet has scents of coffee liqueur, black olives, iron and cherry purée along with an unusual red floral note. The mouthfeel is very broad with magical tannins, a solid fruit component and a particularly elegant finish which, as always, is soft. The texture is most noteworthy but far from the ‘crude oil’ of the 1990, for example. It has settled (something that is not always the case with young Valentini wines) and while it is already very enjoyable, it will reach its peak in 20 years or so.
