A 100 for Robert Parker. This, too, is already extraordinary and less shy than the 2006, evidence of what aging an extra two years in the bottle can do. It has the usual color, luminous but never too intense. The nose has many sides to it although its youth keeps it somewhat suppressed. Monfortino generally needs many years in order to express itself with intensity and after nine years this stage has only begun. The bouquet takes time to explode in the glass and includes the usual notes of watermelon, pansy, mint and various ones of underbrush. The mouthfeel is solemn, almost highbrow, austere and stimulatingly devastating. The aftertaste is eternal, unforgettable.
