I recently shocked a group of friends with this wine made during the Second World War. Drinking it they probably imagined the winemaker working away as air raid sirens sounded. What was amazing was not just how the color still remained intact, obviously a bold orange, but everything else, the formidable intensity, the still-pulsating acidity, the feeling that still today it has years ahead of it, even after 70 years, and how it remains close to its peak, which must have been 20 years ago. This is a wine that still has a lot to give.
600-700 (only if perfectly preserved)
