Le Vignole 2008

60% Malvasia del Lazio, 25% Trebbiano Toscano and 15% Sauvignon. It is matured partly in Allier barriques and partly in 20 hl Slavonian oak casks. This is a complex white, with a greenish-gold colour and scents of white peaches, ripe pineapple, greengages and genista flowers. It has excellent structure, dominated by softness from the alcohol and the glycerine that makes it seem just a little heavy, but which allows it to display a typically Mediterranean style. The finish is long and warming, with a faint aftertaste of bitter almonds due to the terpenes in the Malvasia del Lazio.
