It took 13 years for this blend from the 2004 harvest to leave the cellars of Maison Krug (Krug ID n°214041 – dégorgement in the spring 2014). It is a blend of 39% Chardonnay, 37% Pinot Noir and 24% Pinot Meunier that has the freshness and intensity of the 2004 harvest, which took place from mid-September through the beginning of October. A Champagne with a great balance between the delicate and fresh elegance of the Chardonnay with its dynamic citrus notes, the grapey tension of the Pinot Noir that gives the mouthfeel its back bone and the richness of the Pinot Meunier. The wine’s expressiveness is magnificent with an aromatic profile that veers from lemon peel to rhododendron, from oriental spice to white tea, with notes of almond short crust, herbs and dried flowers. The mouthfeel is wrapping and bold with a tension that sparkles through the progression towards a meticulous finish of great persistence and maturity without any exaggeration making it distinct and lucent.
