Incanto 2012

The wine is produced by Enza La Fauci, an enterprising woman winemaker who is in love with her difficult land and its windy climate and strives to be extremely respectful of its characteristics. The wine is fermented in barriques where it ages for three months before continuing to age in the bottle. The minerality is quite striking in a bouquet of vegetal and slightly fruity scents, while the mouthfeel has great energy accompanied by laudable freshness, elegance and harmony. The wine held up well against the Riesling (Dr. Loosen Erdener Treppchen 2011) with its delicate, fresh and dry mouthfeel whereas the other was muscular with a touch of sweetness in the finish. A female-wine as opposed to a male-wine. For me it was a pleasant surprise.
