A vintage blend of 50% Pinot Noir and 50% Pinot Meunier that were cultivated together (complantées) in a crumbly clay-chalk soil but harvested separately when they reached perfect maturity. Together these two grapes created a ‘harmony’ that symbolizes the terroir. The wines were made with the least human intervention possible with fermentation using indigenous yeasts, sitting long on the lees and bottling without any siphoning or filtrating. The wine then ages in the bottle for at least 48 months (this vintage was disgorged in September 2014). The dosage of 2g/l reinforces the identity of this Champagne that has a density and intensity rarely found in the Valle de la Marne. The bouquet has notes of yellow fruit and hay along with those of Mandarin orange that revitalizes the freshness of the fruit together with nuances of menthol and anise. The mouthfeel has a nice structure without any aggressive or excessively rustic traits allowing this to be an energetic yet balanced drop with a finish that has texture and a pleasing vitality.
