(Harvest between September 20 and 23, bottled in June 2002, disgorged July 2013, dosage 5g/l). A variable growing season with storms but also a nice finale that consolidated itself in August and was followed by a hot and wet September that suddenly began autumnal. This delayed the ripening of the grapes and allowed for selecting the best period to pick them. The wine has great complexity and refinedness, accompanied by a significant lightness and delicacy of fruit. The wine needs to breathe longer in the glass to reveal its infinite nuances and today it is complete and rewarding. There are notes of hawthorn and elder, sweet almond and ripe white peach, candied lemon peel and ginger, white pepper and iodine sensations. A clean and elegant mouthfeel with an incredibly persistent finish. Right now this is more akin to what one imagines a Giulio Ferrari should be, the one that has won international prizes and acclaim, the most expressive one which synthesizes all the wine’s other characteristics.
