Giulio Ferrari Riserva del Fondatore 2000

(Harvest between September 12 and 15, bottled in June 2001, disgorged in January 2016, dosage 3g/l). This was another year in which the quest for lightness was fundamental due to a weather cycle that saw a hot June followed by a cool July and a capricious and again hot August with the harvest saved by September rains and excellent temperature variations. All this determined the choice of the dosage. The bouquet is rich and persistent while the mouthfeel is flowing and inviting. It is also very opulent and it was perhaps for this reason that it was such a difficult year to determine the right dosage in order to obtain the right balance. Today it still has its initial volume while there is less tension than that found in other vintages. There are notes of maturity and thick, ripe fruit, butter and roasted nuts with a finish of almond paste that makes it very gourmand.
