A very original and interesting rosé that is almost challenging due to the ripeness and lay out of the fruit. Lorenzo Faccoli and his children have been making Franciacorta for some 30 years in their vineyard south of Mont’Orfani where the soil is red clay. They began making Franciacorta Rosé in 1984 and in recent years increased the percentage of Pinot Noir to 40% in a blend that also has 40% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Bianco. The grapes are fermented in steel and the dosage is almost one of an extra brut. It has a copper-pink color and an intense and dynamic aroma of apple that is very similar to Calvados, with notes of chamomile and bread. In the mouth this wine unleashes its full expressive capacity with deep notes of apple and pear, both the skin and the pulp, and the masculine freshness of thirst-quenching grapefruit, which becomes as penetrating as bitter oranges, but only in its vigor, while the finish remains rich even in its length.
