A debut for this wine which is produced only in magnum bottles (just 500 for this first vintage) and designed to be best wine from the best years. This 2009 is a blend of 70% Syrah and 30% Alicante and while there will not be a vintage 2010, 2011 will be based mostly on Cabernet Sauvignon. No decision has been made yet on the blend for 2012. The wine macerates at length on the skins (20-30 days depending on variety and the terroir), 20% ages in new barriques for a year and a half and then for another six months in large barrels before bottling. This splendid wine has a more transparent ruby color, a very lovely bouquet which is intense and complex, wrapping and many sided with a fruit component that tends to be balsamic while the spice amplifies the aromatic profile into greater harmony. While still young, the wine already has the characteristics of a wine of great class. It is velvety and very enjoyable now and it is clear that it will improve significantly with aging.
