Gianfranco Fino Gianfranco says I bring him luck. For this reason after every harvest, when his wines are not yet wine but have just begun their journey to become it, the talisman Vignademar is invited to have a taste. Except for the first (2004), I have followed each vintage step by step, from their primal scream to the final product, bottled and even aged. This is why when I tasted the embryo of this 2010 I was literally knocked out, amazed and told Gianfranco that he had made his greatest vintage yet. Of course, mine was just a prediction but it was confirmed in the subsequent tastes I had, from the barrel and right up to this bottle I opened just a few days ago. What can one say about a wine that is so classically gratifying? What can one say about a Primitivo di Manduria which is so representative of the land it comes from, exemplary and at the same time so truly unique? Compared to previous vintages this one has slightly more marked tannins, it is more austere and serious, and has reached an interpretive depth that is truly thrilling. The nose is cherry-like and spicier than ever, its near perfect acidity makes it a frighteningly good DR0P, while its sumptuousness and general harmony leave you speechless. A true champion.
