A blend of 70% Tempranillo grapes from the older vines in Rioja Alta and 30% Graciano selected from the vineyards with the lowest yield in the area of Tudelilla, in Rioja Baja. The two varieties are fermented separately in stainless steel, sit for 20 days on the skins and then undergo malolactic fermentation in cement vats before being transferred to new French and mixed French-American barriques to age for 26 months. After blending, the wine sits for six months before bottling and then ages for 18 months in the bottle.
The wine has a dark, ruby-red color with violet reflections and an aroma of dark fruit, prunes and blackberry, balsamic hints and those of tobacco and sweet spice. The mouthfeel is bold and profound, complex and fresh with a fruity aftertaste that has an excellent persistence.
The 34,000 bottles produced annually are signed by the head enologist, Mercedes Garcia.
