One of the mysteries of aging. I had not tasted this vintage for over ten years and bottle aging has since given it a grassy aroma that it did not have when young. It was almost as if the bottle had brought out the cold weather of the year it was made. In the glass it had an opaque garnet color with an orange edge and the bouquet opens with notes of pepper seeds, thyme and dried mint while the floral component of rose came out with breathing as did the fruit of sour cherry. “Ten years ago this vintage seemed to be on the way out, then it was reborn,” Alessandro told us. Its ability to please raised the question: where’s the Conero?
