A dark, ruby color with purple reflections and a compressed but not out-of-focused aroma. The notes from the wood (vanilla) still needed to be absorbed and here is a sweet vegetal scent and one of dark chocolate. The mouthfeel is full, with layered tannins and a refreshing and saline finish. This is nothing like the less-inspired Super Tuscan wines with their note of dry lacquer. With breathing sensations of black olives and gingerbread come out and the acidity is pleasing despite being a bit bitter. The wine takes quite a while to settle in the glass, a sign it is still very young.
