Made from Chardonnay that ferments and ages in wood. The wine has a golden color ribbed with green and the bouquet has both the sensations from the varietal growing in a cold climate, including a magnificent scent of lemon cream, as well as the somewhat ‘libertine’ winemaking style with pleasing nuances of fresh mushroom. The only shortcoming is an unrefined woodiness which did not bother us but others may find distracting. The mouthfeel is splendid, electrifying and again highlighted by that fantastic note of lemon cream. The finish is simpler, less ‘complicated’, with less dried fruit than a Burgundy of the same category and with an immediacy of an Alsace wine. Not to be missed.
