This was not the best year to for Chambertin’s ‘masculine’ side. The color in an intense, even concentrated garnet with violet-ruby reflections. The bouquet is dominated by notes of wild berries preserved under spirits as well as those of cassis and fresh wild strawberry. There are also youthful scents of tobacco and sweet vanilla as well as some vegetal hints. The mouthfeel is bold, rich and even tannic, as well as saline and warm, although not all the elements have forged together, with a long and persistent finish.
